Islington Voluntary Action CouncilIn December 2009 Islington Voluntary Action Council (IVAC) became Voluntary Action Islington. In December 2009 we moved to new premises. Our new address is 200 Pentonville Road, London N1 9JP. These changes represent a significant step forward for the organisation, following our merger with the Islington Volunteer Centre in April 2009. Our new name and visual identity tells people what we are about - promoting and supporting action by individuals, groups and organisations in Islington. We are not a Council and the way we work is not similar to a Council. It is confusing to have the word in our name. The move to new premises has resulted in new ways of working for the organisation. We are much more visible, with a shop front, and premises that are accessible to people in the borough. The new premises are much larger, with meeting rooms and desk spaces that can be used by other organisations and volunteers too. Our telephone numbers and email addresses have changed. A new webiste is currently being developed and will go live later this year. The new web site address, which is already operational, is www.vai.org.uk Whilst the new site is being developed we hope to minimise disruption but apologise in advance for any short term inconvenience or inaccuracies that these changes might cause. In the long term they should result in us becoming a stronger organisation that is better placed to provide more effective support to individuals and groups that want to make a positive difference to the local community in Islington.
