Support for groupsIVAC offers development support for voluntary and community organisations in Islington in a number of different ways. We can advise you on fundraising, training, organisational development, business planning, ICT and employment issues, among others. For support with these, contact the Development Team on 020 7359 2963. EC1 Development ProgrammeIf your organisation is based in EC1 and/or largely benefits people who live in the EC1 area then you may well be entitled to fast track support. IVAC is currently running an EC1 Project which is funded by the EC1 New Deal For Communities. The project will run until April 2011 and aims to ensure community organisations and individuals in EC1 are able to recieve specialist support. This support can cover a whole variety of subjects ranging from starting a new group and training new managment committee members to putting together a detailed strategy plan and help with funding applications. As part of the same project, we are also running a mentoring scheme for individuals in the EC1 NDC area to gain free access to mentors who can offer support and guidance. The aim of this project is to encourage individuals who may otherwise come up against barriers, to become more involved in decision making bodies in the area. This may mean that they become more involved in their TRAs or School Boards for example. For more information, please contact Sam Obeng or Andy Samel by calling 0207 359 2963 or email development@ivac.org.uk Quality Assurance Support ProjectThis project offers a tailored package of support to implement a quality assurance system to small and medium sized voluntary groups in Islington. If you want to find out more information about the IVAC Quality Project, or have any quality-related questions, please contact Maria Gonzalez on 0207 354 6364 or email mariag@ivac.org.uk IVAC Community Buildings ProjectThere are many under-used voluntary sector managed community buildings in Islington, whilst at the same time numerous local groups are in need of premises from which to deliver their activities. With funding from the Big Lottery Fund, IVAC can support organisations in managing their premises more effectively. Each year, the project will provide intensive support to a small number of groups with issues such as business planning, raising funding for physical improvements, developing health and safety policies, negotiating leases, income generation, and marketing. The Community Buildings Project will work with local networks to make information and resources available to organisations that manage community buildings. The project will also encourage groups that are running premises to collaborate and share experiences - for example helping them to reduce costs through bulk purchasing arrangements and by sharing services. If your group would like support in managing their premises, or needs premises, or to find out more about the project, please contact Janet Keighley on 020 7354 6377 or email her at janetk@ivac.org.uk.
